It all started with...

with a piece of yellow multi purpose cloth. Kay actually screamed at me (followed by whinning & crying) when i took the cloth away to wash after wiping the tables. Kaylen wanted in on the wiping, he wanted to have the yellow cloth by himself, and wipe away. I must have mentioned before in my earlier posts that i've got a guy who prefers household gadgets & stuff to his toys, and this time, he wanted for himself a cloth to wipe the table too. So i had to quickly wash the cloth, cut it into two so that i can still have my portion of it, and give it to him to wipe away. He was literally following where i went from the TV console, to the coffee table, then to the tea table, then to the study area, and back to the main door & gate where daddy took over. All this made him a happy kid in the morning. See for yourself, our very own little helper, and just in time for Chinese New Year spring cleaning.

Great that we have additional pair of hands this year, and i'm happy that we are starting him young at those task task that he is able to do himself which we started quite sometime ago with diaper throwing, and then to taking his milk bottle to the kitchen (& reaching for the table top to place it as he is now slowing reaching), and wiping the coffee tables. Both of us believe that as long as its not something dangerous, Kaylen should be taught to do things by himself, especially cleaning & clearing up his room once his done playing. It's never too late to teach him, and we do require patience cause it's not always when we ask, he would do it. I can't be any prouder of him, and how much he has grown now. He will be turning 20 mths by Chinese New Year's Eve, and where has all the time gone too.

As my guys clean this morning, i was trying so hard to put away my scrap stuff, and at least organise first as to what goes where. As my stash supplies grows, my storage grows as well, and just the other day, stumbled upon these lovely candied coloured metal containers & buckets at Daiso (simply love this place, i get most of my storage from there, and constantly they have new things). Ain't they pretty?? Hubby has to say "why do you have so many storage when i don't see you organising and storing them?? Point well made, so like i have always been saying to myself " i'm going to organise & pack", i really have to get my butt off, and start doing it before it gets out of hand.

Kay's napping now, so i better be off to packing my scrap supplies for the next 1 hour before we head down to granny's place for Chinese renion dinner tonight. It's early this year cause yixi & Jianxi's going away to Szechuan for the Chinese new Year with his in-laws. It's traditional steamboat for us this year!!

Have a happy Sunday ahead!!!

Just something random

Was just blog surfing my usual sites of my favourite scrapper, and stumble upon this Monday Mosiac http://flickr.com/photos/jek-a-go-go/sets/72157600861869587/, and as it made her happy looking at all these pretty colours & images, it certainly made my day.

Chosen my favourite coloured mosiac, and from it, i'm inspired to create a LO tonight base on its colours.

Enjoy!!

This is what he said

A conversation between me & jayce which took place 2 days ago after i finished Kay's xmas layout...

me: what do you think about it?
j: messy
me: messy???
j: yes, too many things already
me: i know, but i like it.

Title : Kay's 2nd X'mas
I'm already considering myself as a "clutter" sort of scrapper. After trying before a "less is more" concept of layouts, i'm still much preferring more. I guess all my layouts have a "me" feel to it, and like what my brother would say - "it's just very you" sort of layout whenever i show me. I too get others saying that "why put so much?? Too much already". What matters most to me is that i'm creating memories for Kaylen in the future, and each layout speaks of what i think when the photo is taken, and very much how i feel at that point so that Kay knows how mummy feels about him. It's my heart to him, and i like what i've created so far, and as Kay gradually grows up, he might like certain pieces of LO, but at least, he knows mummy loves him loads.

So, i'm leaving it as they are when each of my LO are created & done. All for my boy to keep when he grows up.

Have a Happy Friday evening, and thanks for coming by!!!

1st layout of the year

Photo taken of Kaylen at the end of year 2008, and basically my brother in law whose a professional photographer had to take so many shots of this guy before he was able to have decent shots of Kay in order for us to use as his passport photo. At the end of the photo shot which took place at my in-laws took like forever, my brother in law was sweating buckets. Just not an easy job when your client is a 19mths old fidgety fellow.

Here is my 1st layout for year 2009.

Titled: Fallen in Love with this Face
Journalling reads:-
When i'm feeling blue, just looking at your face puts
a smile on mine.
Thanks darling.
xoxo

I'm also in the midst of completing another layout for X'mas. Know that it's so over already for a x'mas LO, and the tree's been finally kept in the box last night, just thought since the birth of Kaylen, i missed out doing a LO for his 1st Christmas ever (he was only 7 mths old, too little to know anything about X'mas), and so i titled my piece "Kay's 2nd X'mas". Still got to get it touched up, and used mostly October Afternoon's X'mas collection, and when it's done (hope to be able to continue working on it tonight), i'll have it posted.
It's already going to be mid week into the 1st week of 2009, and i'm already swamped with loads of work before we close for the Chinese New Year. Our supplier's will be fully opened from their X'mas & New Year holidays by next week, and i can just imagine myself even busier than ever. We're all be going to Pulai Spring for our company dinner this Friday (yup just got back from Pulai Spring in less than 1 week, and i'm going again), and will be missing Kay for just 1 night (it kills already been ever away from him) as my mom takes care of him when i'm away.
Have a good Tuesday evening guys!!! + Thanks for popping by and leaving me comments which always makes my day!! Love ya!!

We are Back!!!

Back and totally exhausted all of us including Kaylen. He was feeling so beat that yesterday's nap time went on for close to 3 hours, and being sleepy again at 8ish, so we all went to bed early.

Can you imagine just a short trip to Pulai Spring was already so tiring (we practically brought the whole house with us), travelling anywhere this far with a little toddler is not easy when it comes to "his things". Anyway, trip was not too far a drive from the Tuas 2nd link, and it took us less than 1 hour to get there, and bestest of this trip was that our little guy ended up loving the swimming pool. It was months ago when we brought him to his 1st swimming pool dip, and which ended on a very bad note. And I was hesitant as to whether if he would want to even go near the pool this time round. We went real real slow, and wah lah...he loved it. So in just 1 day, he was at the swimming pool twice and each time when we had to go, he was crying his eyes out cause he wanted more time in the pool.

This is my first post for year 2009, and so much to be posting about. We spent New Year's Day at Botantical Garden's (just me & Kaylen, cause Jayce was suffering from hangover from the New Year's Eve Party), so it's just mummy & son time at the Gardens, and it's my 1st time there. Never been to Botantical Garden cause i never say the need to be there, but now with a little one, there are loads of places that i get to go and see, and enjoy. Most important for me is that i get to spent time with him. I can be anywhere, just as long as i have Kaylen with me, i'm just one happy person. Seeing him running around freely in the parks, and watching people around feeding the fishes & turtles by the Swan lake was just a happy thing for him. Next time, we're going to bring our own bread crumps to do the same. Couldn't stop and take more pictures cause it's just me & him, so here are just some pictures of him at the gardens, and later on at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden.

There are still loads of photos to develop in order for me to create for Kaylen's his 1st overseas trip album (and where he overcome his fear of going into the swimming pool). Can't wait to start on this mini project of mine.
Also, these lovely HAMA beads are awaiting for me to start working on them. There is a fellow scrapper whom i constantly admire her scrap work has made a scrap album out of these perler beads, and i'm loving how she created them. So i'm going to try them out too, and see how to incorporate these into my layouts, and creating other forms of art out of these cute little buggys. Got these HAMA beads from the shop at Centrepoint - Growing Fun, and they got them in loads of pretty yummy colours.

And for my New Year resolutions, they are to :-
  • spend more quality time with Kaylen, and doing loads of new things with him as he grows
  • be nice to my dear hubby who i think would love it that i do more of the things he likes (it's always been more of things that i like to do)
  • to be able to work on altered projects which i have not ventured into yet
  • to be able to scrap more than year 2008
  • to work on more mini albums cause there are so many short stories to tell as Kaylen grows up, so before he gets too old, i better be documenting these little moments

I've been busy since the start of the new year, so how has your new year's been??

Wednesday, December 31

It's goodbye year 2008

In another 9 hours more, and we'll be into year 2009, and as for what's left of today, i'll just be busying finishing all my paper work (hopefully to finish all the dreadful price lists which my eyes are now becoming very oggerly), and a much cleaner work desk creating me when i return again.

To finish my layouts, decided to work on my final piece for year 2008, which sums up my little guy's journey in this great year where each month, he is just growing and growing up, and by putting together this piece, it just brings me back to each month when the photo is taken, and certainly good memories. Always thought that Kaylen's look didn't change much, but guess when i worked on this layout, our little guy certainly did look different each month. See for yourself, and i enjoyed creating this layout which i titled : "Remember 2008".

Back home tonight, we're having a New Year's Eve party, and this time Teppanyaki & Steam boat all in one. Yummy!!!! Great to have our close ones & friends with us, and for me nothing beats celebrating it with Kaylen & Jayce as our family moves into a New Year, and i'm just glad that year 2008 went well for us Lims.

We're going to be away for a very short holiday to Pulai Spring in Johor this coming weekend, and it's definitely loads of photo taking for me cause it's Kaylen's first overseas trip. So till then, to all my friends, and fellow scrappers -

Happy New Year!!

It's a good way to end the year

What I have been up to yesterday?? Having the time of my life with my family at a crop session at my place, and it started from 3pm to 10plus at Night. Longest crop ever to happen for me. I'm just glad that we had great company, and this time, i was able to work on a piece which i had been waiting to do & a MUST DO, cause it's about Kaylen's friendship with Aunt Jianxi's Gigantic Mickey Mouse. It's been on loan to him for months, and from the day Mickey became a residence at Punggol, he not only moved very little from the spot where kaylen wants him to be sitting at everyday, no one was much allowed to take him away without kaylen starting up a brawl.

When he is older, whether he still be a fan of Mickey (he loves watching Mickey Playhouse), this layout is able to tell that story. Have yet to place the journalling on it yet but will get to doing it soon), i have titled "it's an everyday thing". Just can't have it any other way to record our life's moments, and everysince i picked up scrapbooking, it has allowed me to express my thoughts about my little guy as he gradually grows up, and for me to allow an outlet for my so called "creativity". Not much of an artsy person, but i just simply adore scrapping so much. Guess as much that it's because of all the pretty papers, and what have we that this hobby of mine is hard to resist.

Title: It's an everyday thing

Materials:-

pp: American Craft, My Mind Eyes, Sassasfras Lass

Felt: Prima

Fonts:Doodle Bug, American Craft

Ribbons: American Craft

Rub ons: Hambly's

Bling: Kaiser Craft

Others: Making Memories, Jenni Bowling

Finally the scanner is working once again, and here's the layout i did couple of days back. Am loving the PP by Jenni Bowlin of the birds, and i got to find a way to use them, and here they are.

So from now till the end of the year, it's going to be more scrapping of me as i picked out this morning more photos to scrap on.

So far my year 2008 has been good in general. This is how my year 2008 went so far:-

  • many first times for Kaylen with his 1st ever Chinese New Year celebration & first official family shoot with the entire family, his 1st Birthday in May and from then on, it's his first steps in July when he was 14 months, and bestest ever of 2008 was he finally called me "mama" on Christmas Day!

  • having to travel for work again after stopping for close to 1 1/2 years

  • my little brother Yixi whom's not little anymore getting married & knowing that he will be living exactly opposite of us at Punggol!!!

  • finding my true passion in scrapping which i did more intensive of this year, and this hobby definitely took off for me, and it's my sanctuary when work stress gets to me sometimes.
  • Jayce getting his driving license after such a long time (so i'm relieved that i don't have to be driving him around that much, and that is if i stop nagging to him about road safety)

What would next year be like for me??? & what are my resolutions for year 2009?
