It's good to be back

Had a good last week, taking a half day leave since Friday and spending good time with my best pal Wen, walking and shopping around leisurely although i wished it was for a much longer time. She's one whom i love going out with and spending time cause it's been ages since we last got such time to do girly stuff like talk & shop. It felt as if we are back to good old school days where after class we would hang out for lunch before heading home. For once, those few hours with her was like i felt so carefree, i don't have to worry about kaylen cause i know he in good hands with my mom. It's been ages since i really spend time with myself or with my pals. Oh, i look forward to more of these times with Wen cause we've been friends since we were in Sec 1 (although all along she has been in my primary classes, but we just never got to being friends yet till later). So that's a good20 years of friendship and i'm glad that she is doing all well (did i ever tell you that we also had some good aussie uni days in perth although not in the same uni, but we catch up on the weekends and crashing at Fremantle market, oh how i miss those times) and although we don't see each other much due to our schedules, we are still as close sharing everything under the sun. She is certainly 1 cool gal i love hanging out with, and as we go into life all grown up, she'll always be my good old wendy whose never changed 1 bit since the day i knew her. 3 words to describe her - loyal, true & warm. I'm blessed to have a pal like her and i'm looking forward to many more years of friendship and who knows that my blog might age with me, and you will still find me posting of our shopping trips when we are old grannies to be.

Talking about granny, finally managed to get myself a granny like sweater and it's my pal Wen that says "Hey, that deep purple one looks nice" (we were at MNG), so i got it + a bootcut jeans and i do wish those heavy rainy days are going to be back so that i will get a chance to wear it.

Last week was indeed a shopping week, cause i went on to Saturday , spending time with just jayce in town again for his dental visit, and ended up with a pair of Aldo shoes, & another stash from Mango, and loads of nick naks from Daiso + how can i not visit my fave place in Plaza Sing - MWL. Then came Sunday where i actually sat myself down to start a new LO for my precious one - titled "there is just no stopping U". The LO has pics of Kay everywhere, touching everything at home, and apparently having the time of his life.

Journalling Reads:-
It's been always like this at home.
You have your everyday "play" areas
and there is no way we can ever stop you.
You will always go back doing the same things
and it looks fun.

Sunday for us ended on a good note cause Kay had a great time at the playground in the evening time with myself & Jayce, and next time i will post some photos of him running all over the place.

Looking forward to starting an album for a pal of mine for her lovely 2 angels C&R, hope to have it done when she's back cause i finally picked out the colour coded PP, & bellies awaiting for me to start. And to all celebrating Hari Raya tomorrow - have a great day and to all other's like us, it's going to be a good rest day!

Happy Friday

As weekend is approaching, I'm too feeling loads happier that i would have more time to scrap over the weekend. Didn't do as much as i would love to over the week cause i was already feeling so beat up on monday & tuesday that i went to bed the same time as Kaylen. So, i manage to complete the LO for a challenge hosted by Made with Love and here is my submission titled : " A boy on just a Sunday". Love the moment of Kaylen on this rainy sunday afternoon, that for once he decided not to do anything, but lay down and SMILE for the camera. I'm totally loving this shot of him and would be scrapping more of the series of photos.

Journalling Reads:-
It was raining on this sunday
and you just wanted to laze and
do nothing but smile for the camera.
I just love this moment.
xoxoxo
Love the latest series of PP from Luxe which i hardly buy PP from this brand and finally i get a chance to use a little of epoxy stickers from SEI which i have loads of and somehow, i hardly ever use epoxy stickers in any of my LO and i was just wondering why i don't use them since they are all so pretty.

I'm actually on half a day at work today cause i'm going to have the next half catching up with my close pal - wendy as it's been since we last have a really good chat. It's going to be lunch and some shopping done for both of us today.

Before i zip off back to work, would love to thank Stacy for leaving your comments, and truly understand how it is with scrapbooking that there are so many brands out there which carry so much lovely and to die for products, that at times, you just can't put your finger to your favourite brand. Just leave me your address in my e-mail: tanyinwen@gmail.com and the RAK will be on its way to you very soon.

Have a good weekend ahead!!

I'm reading this at the moment

I love Ali Edwards!! From her style of scrapbooking layouts which for all who know her is clean & simple, and yet very captivating to her mini books which she has created so many of and her approach towards recording the meaningful events in her life. I love her latest book below - "Sharing your story, Recording Life's Details with Mini Books", and I was lucky to get my copy from Made with Love when they first arrived. Haven't had the time to read it as my lil one was sick, and now it's time for me to have my alone time with this book.

Also, I managed to catch her interview on podcast with Noell Hyman and it's really interesting to know Ali's thoughts and feelings when putting together this book along with the other lovely mini book contributors.

So till i complete this book, have a great work week ahead you all, and for those interested in the RAK giveaway (you can find the contents of the RAK in my earlier posts), remember to leave me the comments by end of this week.

I have 2 look-alike

At home and it's not me that I'm talking about, but it's jayce & kaylen. When i decided to have kaylen wear his new H&M black singlet this morning, there came Jayce saying, "hey i want to be the same too", so there you have it, 2 guys walking around the house in almost the same type of bottoms as well, so i have great joy in looking at the father & son duo doing almost everything together this morning. Jayce is enjoying this so much that just now he shouted out " Yin Wen, can you get me another 4 more black singlets to match"..he is really into this and more after having someone in the lift this morning when they are both out to collect mail saying that "hey , daddy & son are dressing alike". He know that this similar dressing thing always would irk me up, cause i'm just not use to dressing the same, and he would sometimes lay the clothes he would wear on the weekends when we go out next to mine (i always put out the clothes i prepare to wear), and they would be in the same colour and i would just go crazy! I'm alright seeing families going out in the same colours, or some in the same designs, but just not for me. Maybe because i have a lil guy and not a lil gal, so who knows maybe when i have a lil gal, i would be just like jayce. So meet my precious 2 inseparable look alikes.

Kay's in his very happy mood this morning and always love watching him and spending time on sundays. We are starting to call him our very own "couch potato" cause he is so into watching Bob the Builder, that he is so into the show and looking as if he understood. This is the Bob the Builder face below.

And when he is not watching TV, he would be after my wooden rubber stamp collection or either that - my sticklers.
And as i mentioned in my earlier posts, i have this delicious RAK to give out, so till now to Thursday, drop your comments to " What's your favourite brand of scrapbooking supplies & why?", and the RAK below could be yours.
We'll be heading down to Daiso at Vivocity later to search for storage for my scrap supplies & to have dinner. It's been quite some time since we had dinner out so it's going to be fun!!

So enjoy your hot sunday and thanks for coming by.

Just another day

Here's my layout titled - " I wish for you to be happy & healthy". My first time using orange or any bright colours as part of the LO , and hey it does turn out well, and i quite like it. Got to try out more of these brighter colours in the future as i find myself (even down to picking patterened papers that i go for more pinks & browns, and of course of having to do LO for my lil guy, i'm also picking out some blues & greens). Plus one of my favourite - floral prints. Yes i know it's not exactly a sort of guy LO, but i just cannot resist using floral prints for Kay's LO sometimes, cause who says that floral are just for girls. I'm sure some of you would agree on this point made.

Everyday, we will start with the fun car ride from my place to my parents to drop Kaylen off, and usually in the car, we have THE QUIZ, and it goes like " Kaylen, where is your head?" or "Where are your fingers?" so on and so forth, and whatever is the latest we are teaching this lil 16 mth old dude. Each time he does it right, he automatically would clap (it's something which both me & jayce has gotten use to clapping whenever he does right or good things), and that now Kaylen associates with getting the actions right, he would be clapping away himself. He is just quick at picking up these stuff that we are doing that, got us thinking, it's the time that our actions are being firstly understood by him, and yes he is indeed copying us as well. At this moment, he has gotten to know who he is or what his name is cause he has been getting the question" where is kaylen" (tapping his tummy is the reply), got us all cheering (this what what we have during dinner tonight was (a crowd of 3 to 4 adults clapping & cheering away as if they are watching a soccer match whenever Kaylen gets his action right each time during THE QUIZ). There i was with jayce at the dinner table, just smiling to ourselves that our parents, aunts & uncles are also clapping away. Hmmmm....So this cute lil bugger is ours...sorry for the initial blur photo (mummy is attempting the take picture while you are the traffic light stop thing).

I also got the time in the morning while dropping Kay off to have my dear mom take a photo for me in her nice green lil garden.
And finally, i just gotten Kaylen his very 1st cooking set (my brother thinks it's such a girly thing to be giving kaylen), but me simply loving that kay enjoys occasionally fiddling with the cooking set (cause before this, it was him & my mom's pots which were larger and harded for him to move around with, and not to mention the noise), so now at least it gets him off my mom's pots for awhile. He seems to enjoy it. But Jayce things that it's mummy whose loving this adorable winnie the pooh stove & cooking set (mind you the stove sizzles and pots are moving on this stove) and the stove speaks...in all these japanese works.

I'm going to be off doing an hour of so of scrapping while jayce & kaylen is already fast asleep, picking up stuff for the upcoming RAK giveaway and then bedtime cause i'm working tomorrow and i'm so looking forward to having a hair cut in the afternoon. It's just so warm for the past few days, got to really do something about my hair, it's looking so dawdy (is this even the right word). Oh well, till tomorrow, we'll see how my hair would turn out next.

It's Done

My LO and final one completing my series of 3 celebrating my recent 5th year wedding anniversary to this great guy is all done. Showed it to jayce and you know what he said " Not bad"...hmm wondered what does that mean? Anyway, i know he is still trying to adjust to me and my 1 year old hobby of scrapbooking, cause my supplies has indeed grown to regular receipt of monthly subscriped kits and always, once any parcel is to arrive at the office, he automatically becomes my delivery mail guy at the counter receiving my stuff. Jayce has become so use to this and the ever growing mountain of paper & embelishments that he has stop saying anything. But I do get "the look" occasionally. Still, I love him lots although i wish sometimes he would sit down with me to scrap. I remember the very 1st time he scrapped was December last year that he wanted to make a X'mas card, and without me knowing, he started cutting up my lovely x'mas patterened paper in all sorts of shapes (he was trying to create a X'mas tree),and there i was thinking to myself "Is this guy for real" (jayce was still cutting happily away, when i was like " Arggggg, my paper"). Then after all the cutting, he said he was tired????? Goodness grief, that was the last time i ever let him near my scrap supplies. Still till now, I'm still asking him if he wants to scrap (under watchful eyes) even though i know he would create chaos at some point of time. It's his company i enjoy. Now, whenever i scrap, he would be there accompanying me either by sitting and watching his fave TV, or just laying down to take a shut eye on the couch till i'm done. Just loving the fact that he is there with me. For someone like him who works practically every single day of the week, i know he gets so tired at the end of each day, and the fact that he is a TV addict, he is still always hearing me out when i have stuff bothering me, and to be my shoulder to lean one when i get tired. So i must really say, knowing and being with him for the past 12 years, i can never be happier with him and i know although he does not tell us as much, that he truly does everything for both me and Kaylen all the time, for us to always be happy, I cannot ask for a better suited daddy for Kaylen although i'm always at Jayce's neck to get him to spend more time with Kaylen rather then the constant TV watching.

So to my dear hubby - I love you lots and i'm still going to allow you whenever you want to scrap with me.

Simply loving it

Patterened paper from Sassafras Lass are here (New "Life is beautiful - Fawnd of you,too/ Woodland Whimsy", & "Serendipity - Hog Heaven" and available at Made with Love. I've been waiting for them to be here and you just cannot imagine how much of these i have at the moment and awaiting for me to scrap with them. Just one word to describe me now - Estatic.

We are also back home now with Kaylen already feeling loads better and medication has stopped as well. A few days at my parents was really doing him good and recovering, and my mom really took good care of him while Kay's down with being sick for the 1 week and I cannot be more than grateful for having her around me. Nothing beats being at home now, back to me having the time to scrap (just finished a LO which i did when Kaylen was sick - titled " I wish for you to be happy & healthy" which i will post tomorrow), to organising my scrap supplies again (how happy to be back home with my scrap supplies) cause i really have to get down to sorting out my patterened paper and planning a RAK give away again. Loads of lovely stuff looking for the rightful owner, and this time round, my RAK would be involving - alterable milk cartons from Art Blanche.

So for those who are interested, come back again on Sunday for my post of the upcoming RAK giveaway & my take this time for this lovely RAK to be given out - simply tell me which brands of scrapbooking products do you love best & why and the RAK could be yours.

Till then, have a good weekend ahead!!

Sunday, September 14

Hello Sunday!!

Weather was slightly cloudy and dull this morning, but generally good weather indeed and for all whose celebrating Mid's Autumn Festival today, have a great gathering with your family cause it's usually at such festivals that we have gatherings. This is what i see outside my window at the moment....

And as i blog, i have this plate of yummy chocolate fudge cake keeping me company and they are from Lana Cakes. For those who are into chocolate fudge cake would know about Lana Cakes, homemade yummy creations by Mrs Violet Kwan whose been baking from her shop at Greenwood Avenue along Bukit Timah. Just walking into her shop would just sent me going crazy with all the deep chocolate scent. It's my family's fave and we would always have this at birthdays (this was a gift from Jayce for my birthday), and a must have at X'mas. Goes really well with cold fresh milk, at least that's how i must have my Lana cake with.
Yes, my lil one is fast asleep usually at this time of the day and an update on how Kaylen is doing? He is recovering day by day from his cough which evolved to tons of phlegm, blocking his airways and a trip to the doc yesterday got him additional medication, sigh, he has now 4 different kinds of medication to take and it would take another 1 week/10 days to get well. Just seems so long. We are all praying that he will get better soon. Then today my mom came over to my place and when she walked through our door, she says she's getting kaylen an air purifier. Hmmmm, does it really work this air purifier??? Would Kaylen be able to sleep better at night??? Looks like i know nuts about this thing and would need to read up in the trusty internet for information. For those who have an air purifier, please tell me how useful this would be?? Jayce says certain ones can kill germs. We'll see when our air purifer comes. oh yes, my mom heard this from her therapist this morning. She says highly recommended. Oh enough of purifier's at the moment.

This afternoon, managed to squeeze sometime to complete a card ( i need it for a certain purpose) and this is only my 2nd time attempting a card, finished it in half an hour, and all using my left over scraps (even the lace cardstock was left over from previous projects), no fresh sheet of patterened paper was used for making this card. I always have a bad habit, for every of my project, I'll be always using new patterened paper to the maximum i can, unless i really thought that the scraps would match well. So after looking at the amount of scraps accumulated almost close to a year now that i started this hobby, i'm now more than determined to always look through the scraps i have and USE THEM. So here is the card i made and recently, i seem to love stickles (although you can't really see it very clearly from the photo, i added to vines of the butterfly's wings). Just love it.

Will not be able to blog for the next few days cause we will all be at my parent's place. It's going to be easier for not having to always rush up and down, dropping and picking Kaylen up everyday to and from work since our lil guy is still not totally well yet. And on my part, i need not be knocking off work on time, both of us need not be rushing. It's just such a common word for both me & jayce.

So enjoy your mooncake with lovely chinese tea for this wonderful festival.

Just a quick post today

Finally finished my 2nd layout for my 5th wedding anniversary - titled "Your Shoulder to Lean on"

Journalling reads:-
Always know that no matter how my day went, bad or good
i will always have your shoulder to lean on.

As i enjoy my birthday today, i would like to thanks all my lovely friends whom has been leaving me since early morning great birthday wishes and it just made my day. To my dear friend in KK, hey pal thanks for calling me all the way from work. Talking about friends, got to work on LO for tribute to all my close friends whom had been always so dear to me, been there at different points of my life, getting me through the life cycle cause i'm just one person who does not have alot of friends to begin with. So watch for this in the next few weeks cause this really has me thinking on how i can create such a tribute to these very special people. Hmmm...

Have a happy friday to all.

Has it been that long

It's been awhile since i last posted, and i'm just glad to be home, to know that Kaylen is now sleeping soundly in his bed feeling loads better since his fever episode last week. Glad that fever is now gone since a few days, but nursing a very dreadful cough which would take a few more days before he totally gets well. He did lose weight once again, but we believe he will be back in the next couple of weeks, feeling like his usual self. For the past 1 week, Kaylen like any other kid when sick, would feel lethargic, more laying around in his playpen, droopy eyes due to too much medication, but still he would roam around the entire house like his usual routine. Like all parents, i wish i was the one whose sick and not him. It hurts to see him sick, and all listless. Anyway, that's all behind us now, most importantly is for him to get well very soon and be that chirpy lil one.

Onto the scrapping front, as i finish the last few touches on my 5th wedding anniversary LO (i hope to have it posted by tomorrow), here is a quick glimpse of it. As it is meant to be a series of wedding anniversary LO, i repeatedly used Anna Griffin patterened paper (oh how i regret that i only bought just 1 sheet of it, so i'm really scrimping as i use for each LO).

Got drifted away for awhile when completing my LO, went to tidy up my ribbons cause i'm just running out of space. Store them in these lovely Ikea clear jars ( i used them to store my rubber stamps as well), and as my stash of ribbons keeps growing, i'm just not very sure if i'm still going to store them in these jars. Till it gets out of hand, i will think again, but for now, it will do and stay pretty in them. Don't they just look yummy...

And not to mentioned these new lot of ribbons i got recently MWL today, i'm still looking for a home for them.
Just today, Jayce said to me that i'm not scrapping fast enough. My scrap supplies are way too much and at the rate i'm buying them, i will never ever finish my supplies or go anywhere near to finishing using them. I believe i will never ever finish using my scrap supplies (my family just got me vouchers from MWL for my birthday + a friend of mine as well), so you know what i mean and jayce knows very well that this hobby is just addictive. Just looking at my scrap supplies DOES NOT give me a headache, but instead i feel good looking at them and i love sorting them out. Would i call this a form of stress relief. Guess very much so for me.
Alright as i count down to my birthday in another hour of so, i'm just feeling good and happy that I'm been blessed with a happy & great life for the past 33 years, to have a loving family whose been there for me, great friends who mean the world to me and most importantly, 2 great guys in my life whom i love so deeply and would do anything for them. And lastly to my dear mum who shares the same birthday as me, Have a great birthday mummy, and loads of hugs & kisses. Thanks for everything!!!!

Till then, have a happy thursday!!

Sunday, September 7

You can't imagine...

Our lil one is sick again. It's only been 2 weeks since he got well from the earlier episode that once again he fell ill on friday afternoon. The day where weather has turned better in the evening time (no more dreadful rain), all ready and packed to go to the lantern festival at the Chinese Garden, and poor barney below has to await longer for his lil owner to be well enough to carry him. Heard from my lil brother that this year's lantern festival was really nicer than the year before and was also better than the ealier Hello Kitty Themed one. So when our lil guy is well again, we will definitely visit.

Everytime when Kaylen falls ill, there are just so many reasons to why he would fall ill. This time, it's because he is growing teeth. Swollen gums, irritated mood, grump & feverish, but i don't seem to remember flu being part of the symptons of teeth growing. We had terrible nights just as long as our guy is not well. So, i spent 2 nights sleepless worrying away, checking on him....this is just very frustrating cause i never know how to prevent him from falling ill so often. His 1st was when he was 7mths old with virul fever (caused by very nasty ulcers at the back of the month) , then when he is 12mths old, it's again fever caused by ulcers inside his lips, then 2 weeks+ back with sore throat & flu which the sore throat caused his fever, and now this. I know kids will fall ill from time to time, but for one like kaylen who has a well balanced diet with lots of liquid, enough sleeping hours....what else is still missing? We are now just hoping that now into day 2 of his fever, he will show signs of getting better cause his yo-yo like fever is still there.

A very alone barney.

This whole week has been busy for us all, especially for me at work. Back at home, other than only having Kay fall ill on friday, I was just scrapping away slowly at my pace. Worked on one of my wedding photo as can you imagine, both me & hubby had forgotten our wedding anniversary day. It's on the 29th Aug, and this day just came & went and by the time i remembered, it was the 30th. I guess with 2 working people like us, and have a bundle of joy like kaylen, we only think about everything that has got to do with Kaylen and nothing else. Kaylen to us is ever so precious, and i must say that we do overly protect him from outside and we have ourselves to blame if this is part of the reason why he fell ill. He is just to clean (we just keep wiping his hands & things around him when we are out) cause with the number of growing viruses now, we just cannot be too sure. See what i mean, I'm back on a Kaylen related topic again instead of my wedding anniversary...goodness grief.

So i decided to work on a series of our wedding pics in celebration of our 5th year wedding anniversary and here is the 1st one (titled "Remember this day, Celebrate 5 good years & more) i completed with the following journalling.

Journalling Reads:-
This day i became Mrs Jayce Lim.
The day that i no longer think as one, but as us.
The day i know that we will be as one and grow old together.

Alrighty, got to go prepare lunch for lil one, and packing to stay at my parents tonight. Thank goodness for parents cause i was totally drained out in energy with this lil one whom despite is sick, has still tons of energy to be running about the whole house.

Wednesday, September 3

Oh bother...what sort of weather is this

It's practically raining each evening for the past few nights, and although i love rainy nights especially, i'm sort of hoping it won't rain this coming Friday cause we are bringing Kaylen down to Chinese Garden for the lantern festival. Cross my fingers and pray that it can rain all it want now, but do stop by Friday.

Sort of taking a break from scrapping tonight and watching "Constantine" with my dear hubby. It's a good feeling cause it's been a long time since we watch movie together. So while i enjoy the rest of the night, hope you all will have a good night's sleep on this cold rainy night.

Oh yes, as you can see already ,my dear sweet lil brother created a blog banner especially for me with Kaylen's face on it. It's so cute (both kay & the banner). Anyway i love it to bits and thanks a million Yixi...
