It's Thursday....

Didn't i just started off with Monday, and it's already Thursday already. It's crazy. Work is on high for me at this moment, and yes i do need weekend to be coming soon. Who never likes weekends?

This came for me in a small brown package, and yes like all brown packages, it definitely holds little surprises that just perks me up instantly. Have been waiting like forever for this, and now it's around my neck at this very instance. Precious, delicate, and a constant reminder of 2 very important people i love, and have in my life. I got this handmade necklace from the vintage pearl at http://thevintagepearl.etsy.com/ , and Erin definitely does small pretty trinkets like these, and so handmade.

I also have this LO to complete since working bits on it for the last few days, and it's only 50% done. Chosen to work on colours out of my comfort range, but i'm liking what i see so far on the scrap desk.

What's your Thursday like today?

What do you do with this face??

Gosh i love how weird Kay looks in this photo (it's the angle at which the photo was taken last evening), but on the other hand i can't seem to resist the following:-

* planting tons of kisses on those cheekys of his
* smelling his newly cut hair (with compliments from grams whose been doing his hair cuts & trims every since his very 1st horrendous terrifying hair cut at the kids salon, Kay practically brawled his eyes out, and those were the longest 20mins ever for me & my mom)
* giving him huge bear hugs non stop
* holding his face and telling him that i missed him for the day
* and doing everything above over & over again

Yup that's how much i'm in love with my little guy, and yes this will be the next photo i will be scrapping for sure, and maybe title it "Things I'm doing to this face"

I'm working for half day today, and getting some retail theraphy with my pal Pam, and it's about time i get some new wardrobe for work, and take a short break and have a good lunch time catching up with her too.

Thanks for all your well wishes, and i'm certainly doing my best and hope to bring you all new fresh pieces.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

It's a dream coming true....

It's something which i never ever thought would happen when i first started out scrapbooking 2 years back. Through this journey not only did i create memories for my boy to have in the future, i also made new friends who inspire me with their lovely work and most of all each of them so distinct and different in their very own way.

I made it to our LSS - Made With Love's Design team call which i entered, and i can't be any happier at this great opportunity. Check it out....i'm just all smiles for the rest of today. Thanks Made with Love for this!

http://www.madewithlove.com.sg/blog/2009/07/28/design-team-inspirations-43/

To those who encouraged & gave me constant kind words, and liking what i created, it means a lot to me. Thanks you all, and hugs!

And to my fellow scrapper - Geraldine, a huge hug & congratulations to you too for making the team. Like what Pooi said before, we're in for loads of fun!!!

Till then, have a beautiful Tuesday!

All in one weekend...

I'm definitely still recovering from this past weekend, and hope to be feeling up & going again as i start my work week once again. Kay's saturday classes at GUG was fun but super tiring for me cause this week, Kay decided not to listen to anyone, and once again he was everywhere in the classroom, dancing along with the music (was good to see him responding to the songs at music class this week), had his moments of tears when class started, and for the rest of the 1 1/2 hr, i was like a crazy woman having to go after him in circles and getting him to just stay put at one spot. A terribly hard job, but fulfilling cause Kay's enjoying himself by participating and doing stuff his own way, and music lessons definitely his fave.

Sunday morning was spent at Mcdonald's with grandparents for breakfast, and a walk at the Ang Mo Kio park, and from the look at the photos, you can tell how much he enjoys being outdoors.

He is never short of funny faces to pull at you....just in a few seconds,

i get that many funny faces

Only that little when it comes to the massive number of steps we have to climb....

Then a trip to daddy's favourite place....the fish shop...i just can't believe that Kay actually took the stool and sat right in front of the tank to watch.

And over last weekend, we celebrated daddy's birthday as well, and my sis-in-law baked Jayce a beautiful chocolate mousse cake, and yummlicious home made chocolate ripple ice cream. And this is for sure the most simplest birthday ever for jayce cause this year, he didn't want to go anywhere for his birthday dinner, he just wanted to stay at home, and to receive such lovely and yummy gift in the form of everything chocolate, this was the best thing ever, and he certainly enjoyed it all to himself. My dad made him birthday mee sua as well, and he wished that everday was his birthday. Here's a pic of the hand made birthday cake.

And how can i get through the weekend without any scrap theraphy, and i had a great time just having to sort through my ever growing stash of embellishment required for Pooi's POW-WOW embellishment challenge at MWL, and here's my take. Using embellishements - rub ons, flowers from Prima & blings and all documenting my "first".

You will always have a very special place in our hearts as our first born."

When they tell you...

you like someone, and this question i hear it so often when people tell me that Kay looks so much like my younger brother. From the day he was born, i get it alot that Kay looks like Yixi, and as a parent, i would keep on looking at both of them, and i can't seem to find the resemblance anywhere. So when i took this photo couple days back, it got me staring at the photo, and once again looking at every feature to find the likeness. Nope still can't find any traits. How on earth did the rest of them find the similarity.

Can you see the likeness?

I also get alot from Jayce when he tells me that Kay looks more like me, and in someway whenever he looks at him, he would say that "little yin wen" is looking back at him. Yes i'm one happy & proud mama. I use to think that kay doesn't look much like me in his 1st year of babylife, and most likely looking more like daddy given that he had large sparkling eyes unlike mine, and the thought that most boys would look like their dad's more than mom's. So next time, jayce says if we are to have a lil girl, she would look like him. Hmmmmmm...

Till our next kiddo arrives, we'll be guessing who he or she will take after in the looks section.

Have a beautiful Thursday, and thanks you all for leaving me with your encouraging and sweet comments. Hugs!!

It's Good to be Back

Just a mere 4 days away in Guangzhou & Chaozhou is good enough to make me feel how fortunate i am to be where i am. Looking at the rural parts of Chaozhou where i was, at their living condition(rubbish was everywhere), and their children, i'm grateful to be blessed with what we have. It's heart wrenching to see children having very little to eat, no shoes for some, and how little they have on them, i know deep down that we cannot be complaining at where we are now in life. It's never gotten tougher at all for us here in Singapore.

I'm just glad that i'm away from the immense heat we get there in Guangzhou, the unpredictable weather (we were only delayed on our flight back due to the cyclone which Hong Kong is experiencing on the eve of our departure), and i'm back safely. To the arms of my family, and to a very familar little face & voice. Kay had a wide smile on his face when i walked through the door, and holding him for the longest time.

I'm on a 2 day break from work, and will be returning back to the office tomorrow, and back to my usual hectic work schedule, and time lines. Yes, it's always lots to do for me, and it's still manageable.

Love the feel of a totally sparkling clean home (thanks jayce for doing a massive clean up since we have been away from our home for at least 1 week already), and nothing beats going back to our own home, back to my scrapping, and i've completed the work needed for the DT call. I enjoyed the moments preparing for it, and yes i did get stuck at some moments, to tear out certain pieces, or to re-spray certain parts cause i didn't like the overall feel. It's exciting. There had been really beautiful work submitted each day by the rest of the scrappers for the DT call, and i'm just so inspired by how each of the pieces are carrying such distinct style of the scrapper. To all the DT call scrappers, Good Luck and all the best!

Here's what i have done for my submission:-

Project: A mini "Moments" album for Kaylen
Looking at him now at 2, it always makes me think of when it all started, how fast time has just passed by, and i wanted to capture those thoughts that i have close to my heart, and how each stage of having him from the moment i was pregnant to when he did his 1st. I took those moments which are always in my mind constantly to be journalled down.

What's next for me - a scrap challenge by Pooi at MWL cause she's one great scrapper whom i love the punkness of her work, how much it reflects her style, and truly grown so much from the very 1st LO i saw of hers.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

A peek...

at what just came out of my "scrap oven", and the 1st of the required layouts for my DT call submission. 2 more layouts & 1 project to go, and hopefully i will get the time to complete part of the project over this weekend, and before my Guangzhou trip.

Till then, i'm looking forward to a full weekend ahead with Kaylen + 1 Korean luncheon (the same restaurant along East Coast which we had to visit again, i love korean food) we're having tomorrow after Kay's GUG session, and just wanting to be hold on to this weekend that much longer (you should know why?).

See you guys soon!

This July...

would be a rather busy busy month for me with the following plans all lined up:-

* i'm trying out for the DT call at our LSS, and as i start on planning how i want to go about with my layout & project submission which is due in 2 week time, i know for sure i'm going to enjoy preparing for this. Truthfully, I lack the courage to try out for DT calls, and i'm thanking you out there (you know who you are) for nudging me to put my name down for this, it's the experience which would matter most cause after all scrapping will forever be part of me, and a hobby i see myself doing for the rest of my life.

* I'm flying to Guangzhou for business in less than 1 week for about 4 days, and for those who know me would know that a mere 4 days away from Kaylen feels like years away from him, and i'm trying to not think about how much i'm going to be missing him, and spend more time with him over this weekend before i go.

* I will be away from work after my trip for about a couple of days, and working from home being quarantined from work as it provides our colleagues a piece of mind that i'm not going to come back with H1N1 (gosh as long as anyone of us in office travels, they stay away for about 1 week). When you travel for business, and when you have H1N1, the level of me afraid of catching "something" on board the plan or anywhere i might be seems to be hard to avoid. It's a headache having to travel at a time like this, and when i have a little one at home. Work seems more for me this month, not that it's piling, it just gotten more for me. It's like going crazy at times.

* there's Jayce's birthday coming up (one day after the DT call submission), and we planning to have a nice Japanese dinner meal, just the 3 of us.

* there's also my best pal Wen's birthday at the end of this month, and I've already booked her for an earlier birthday steamboat lunch at Coca (it's going to be happening on the same day as having Jayce's japanese birthday treat, i'm just going to be stuffing my face for sure, and not eat for the next few days i think), and spend a good half a day with her cause each time when we catch up, it's like we have endless talks about everything, and we both love SHOPPING for sure.

*one crop session coming up at my place on saturday 2 weeks from now with my good buddy - J & her lil girl, and it's going to be an all girl bonding time for us

* definitely at least 1 outdoor photo taking time with my brother, sis in law & Kaylen since we had such a blast taking photos the last time when we were at Botanical, this time round, an unexplored green pasture fields of somewhere ulu & not discovered yet, and it's just going to be fun, fun, fun, and yes loads of photos to scrap with.

Looks like to me, July is just going to speed past me so quickly that i seriously would need to take a much slower pace in August.

Have yourself a good evening, and gals thanks so much for taking the time to leave me with comments. HUGS!!!

Monday, July 6

For something as simple as....

  • the PLAYGROUND would leave you all sweaty, and being your very happy happy self.

  • a mere 1/2 hour at the SUPERMARKET with grandpa buying your favourite "star biscuits" (you call Gerber Puffs in sweet potato as your star biscuits) would make you all excited.

  • dinner at a Korean RESTAURANT along East Coast Rd & the fact that it was pouring heavily, you were behaving yourself & eating away at the seafood pancakes & smash potato (korean style). You enjoyed the korean steel chopsticks & long handled spoon more than anything else

  • bedtime with your new bedtime buddy - a HAND MADE PAPER SHARK that daddy created just for you, lays on your pillow, and there you would be sitting in the dark, saying "sleep sleep shark" or "nite nite shark" over and over again till you were tired out. You really love this paper shark thingy.

Just our Sundays, and i believe given anywhere or anything you have, you are contented at playing with it, or enjoying the time. Life's simplest are usually found in just everyday things around us.

Hope you had a great weekend too!

What should it be??

Kaylen the superboy?, or better still Kaylen the superboy at messing around. Whenever he has his superman pj's on, i would call him superman, and when he cries, i would always say "hey i don't remember superman crying like this". I love him in this pj which i've gotten from Germany from H&M couple of months back when i was on a business trip, and he looks simply adorable in it.

And i guessed as much that when he asked for me to open the ribbon storage box, i knew that it's the start of a very "beautiful mess". True enough, just for a mere 15 minutes away, i was greeted with ribbons streamed on the sofa, and on the floor, to the coffee table. So he is indeed super, and that's at creating a mess. He even had to bring out this morning a portion of my ribbons in a basket to grams place.

Thrilled at the fact that we have a superkid at home, i'm happy that the album i've been working on for Kay about him being 2 is also completed (at 3plus this morning when i completed it), and love how it is sitting on our TV console (i took away the previous one of the mini maya rd dinosaur album documenting his toys, and this new one sits for now), and how the colours bring out the life of this album. Here's a look at the pages....

Weekend's round the corner, how are you spending it? I'm going to have 2 full days with Kaylen, with his GUG session on Saturday morning, lunch with grandpa, and for the rest of the days, just us chillin at home.
Enjoy!
