Waiting....

I seem to be waiting this morning before i left for work, and somehow Kaylen too...

waiting to finish his milk before playing with my Prima flowers

milk's done, waiting for him to get bored of my Prima flowers
which was not anytime soon
him waiting for daddy to come out of the
bathroom (and yes, he is still crazy on
wearing my bedroom slippers)

he said "dizzy" when he looked out of the window,
he was waiting for dizzy to drive by...

waiting to get this photo (Kay when he was 19 months) scrapped, a great
photo taken my sis in law's dad who loves photography, and he took loads of
Kay when they were visiting in Dec 08

waiting to finish the travel album

these waiting for me to be used...

these latest Making Memories stuff waiting to be broken into...

I'm just waiting for April to be here....
Enjoy the last day of March guys!!!

Weekends

They are just too short. In just a glimpse, i'm now at Sunday, 1/2 day was just gone, and tomorrow is back to work again. Time is of the essence, and i always find myself saying that i'm not spending enough time with Kaylen. Other than just spending time with him, i've always planned to get some scrapping done, and somehow ended doing something else instead. Weekends for me are pretty much also spent cleaning and packing the house (i'm totally uncool when my place looks untidy), and being me i always must make sure that everything is in place where it's suppose to be. However, only my scrap desk is in a constant state of mess. Just take a look....

a travel album in the making...
piles of unorganised scrap supplies...
Another part of my weekends are spent preparing Kaylen's meals for the day. Would always be up at 6am, chopping & cooking away, and meals for kids are not that hard to prepare, it's just that i'm lots slower when it comes to cooking. Kaylen's everyday meals has evolved from just usual porridges of all sorts to meals with more variety. He can be having stew chicken & potato to bee hoon/mee sua soup, to beef stew with rice, or fried rice to just recently pan fried salmon with rice. His all time favourite - steam fish. He eats loads of fish, vegetables and fruits, and i think my mom cooks more of the yummy home made stuff than i do. For today, Kaylen's having alphabet pasta with stewed minced chicken, potato & tomato.

I'm going to squeeze in some scrap time now before Kaylen wakes up from his afternoon nap.

Have a great Sunday!

Friday, March 27

I still feel great

Simply because it's Friday already, and we are just days away from April, a totally new month. My to do list didn't seem to get anywhere, not only did i not get to finish my cousin's travel album which was meant as part of her birthday gift on Sunday (Yi Wei, if you are reading this, it's going to be ready next week, sorry gal i wanted to make sure that you have a fantastic album to keep all your adelaide memories), i didn't get to go anywhere near my new baby - "the sewing machine" which arrived 2 days ago. This whole week was practically not how i planned it to be. Totally unproductive, and just feeling tired out each day when i get home.

March for me, and my brother wasn't really good. It's filled with a mad & crazy work weeks for us both, it seems like others in the office were also pretty much overloaded as well with so many last minute client's request, products that don't seem to work, and behaviours of all sorts are showing in time of madness. Despite all these, I still feel great today. I guess it's because i know this weekend i'll be spending it with Kaylen (although i might have to work on this Sunday), Kaylen's going to be finished with his last playgroup session at TumbleTots tomorrow, and we've decided to let him take a break after being at it for 5 months.

April will totally be a whole new month, other than me starting to plan Kay's 2 years birthday bash in May, weekends will also be different for Kaylen as I plan to bring him out more to explore the environment, it's still going to be a "me & him" time together but just not filled with playgroup sessions, but these unplanned trips for him to be out of the house. April is also busy as my parents move from their present home, a brand new environment place for Kaylen to be at, and he's beaten me to seeing the new home, and it has this lovely back garden (totally happening for parties which we all like), and from my sources, he likes it cause it's much bigger and loads of running around spaces. Busy for the adults when they move, but exciting and thrilling for Kaylen as he explores this new home.

So by looking forward, it only makes me feel good. Gone with March, and hello April!!!!

Something brown, furry & soft....

That's my MUJI bedroom slippers that Kaylen has always got to be in when he gets home. Last night, for practically 1/2 hour before his bedtime, he was walking around the house with it, and walking very well in them despite that it's my size & not his. He got angry at both of us when we tried to get him to change to his Pooh bedroom slippers, insisted to still wearing my slippers instead. Both me & Jayce gave up, and our little guy was happier than ever.

Happen to stumble upon this new range of patterened paper from Lily Bee Designs http://www.lilybeedesigns.blogspot.com & truly sweet rub ons as well, here are my picks, and found out that this brand is available at online scrapbooking stores such as two peas in a bucket. So i'm off to get some online shopping done...

To a totally great day ahead, and still awaiting for the delivery of my new sewing machine!!!

Got to love this....

Truly love creations by Fifi Lapin. Totally loving the rabbits in apparels...my brother doesn't seem to think much or like them. Her recent collaboration with Le SportSac got me wanting to own another 1 more Le SportSac bag, and my brother thinks it's a waste of money. Gotten my earlier Le SportSac bag with the Tokidoki designs (still my fave of all the others I've gotten), and my love for this brand of bag started when I was a teen when my mom gotten me my very 1st bag during her Hong Kong trip, and from then on, i love Le SportSac.

One of my fave prints from Fifi Lapin

Would love to get my hands on one of these bags...

"the field trip duffle"

or this "window shopper tote"
On the scrapping front, got to work on my cousin's birthday present cause i have till Friday to complete, and i need time to work on her massive adelaide trip album. I'm still at brain storming stage of how to start & what sort of album cause I've now this kraft coloured A5 size 2 ring file which i've gotten from MUJI, and was wanting to make it into a mini book for Kaylen, but now i think it would be well suited for my cousin's travel album. Quite a nice size.

Looks like i'm going to be occupied for my next couple of nights working on this.

To you all out there, have a great day ahead!!

Monday, March 23

Meet my new baby...

Soon to arrive within this week, and after deliberation and trying out the old Singer sewing machine at grams's place (which the manual can no longer be found, and the machine is not working properly), I've decided to get a new one, and here's Singer 2259. Jayce was more excited then I was, and making sure he checked out all the features & whichever models of sewing machine was more suitable for a klutz like me (he went right for this as this model had a certain safetly feature, and I would somehow prevent myself sewing my fingers).

Got to find time to go get some sewing accessories.....definitely the 1st use of the machine is to have it used on my layouts. Had always love how machine sewing looks on layouts.

Completed another super simply LO for Kaylen, titled "Dream Away Kay". Love that look he had.

Materials used:-
PP - october afternoon, sassfrass lass, 7 gypsies
rub on: hambly, pink paislee, october afternoon
letter stickers: america crafts

Totally hate the heat today, what it is with the weather now a these days? Just totally off.

Enjoy your Monday, and thanks for coming by!!!

Sunday, March 22

I'm awaiting....

For these lovely wild cards by October Afternoon....aint't they vintagy. Love it. I'm this sort of person who loves any scrap products which has a vintage edge to it.

Had intended to go scrapbook shopping after work which i'm going off soon in 5 minutes time, but decided at the last moment to just head home to my little guy whom over this weekend, i've got my mom to babysit him while i work. Miss having my weekends with him!!! Dinner tonight, home cook szechuan dishes by my sis in law. YUMMY!!!

Looks like it's just going to be a quiet evening for me & the boys.

We Love Sundays..

Love it for the fact that i know i have the whole of Sundays mornings with Jayce & Kaylen before daddy has to go work in the afternoon, love it for the fact that it's usually a "me & kaylen" time together, and love it for the fact that i can go slow today...

This morning was gloomy & very wet, and good to sleep in, but i started today at 6am, and when my eyes opened, i just i felt like scrapping. Crazy, right? But this is how crazy i am with this hobby. Checked on Kaylen, put the covers on for him cause it's getting chilly with the heavy down pour which started off at 6am, and sat down at my scrap desk and worked slowly. Took me more than 1/2 hour, picking out the photograph, selecting the papers, thinking of how this layout would turn out to be.

Kaylen was up at 7.30am, and he too wanted to go slow this morning. Just laying around on the sofa, sucking away on his fingers, and just not wanting to move or look at me when i took his morning photos. Love the H&M PJ i got him when i was in Frankfurt, it has owls all over, and i just adore owls. I do hope when H&M gets to Singapore, they do carry it's kids range as well. Everytime when I get the chance to be at H&M overseas, Kaylen will end up having heaps & heaps of clothes....

His moods are just so much like the weather - unpredictable!!!

This sits pretty on my scrap desk now, and awaiting for me to finish it tonight...

Both me & Jayce are at work this afternoon, and before we get home, we're (my scrap companion my sis in law is coming with me, so it's YAAAA!!!) going to our LSS for a round of scrap shopping before picking Kaylen up for dinner tonight. Dinner location still not decided yet, and we're also already running out of places to bring Kaylen out on the weekends. Been wanting to bring him to Marina Barrage, and we're still finding the time to.
Till the next post, have a great sunday!!

{scrap theraphy}

Needed an outlet to relax, nothing beats just scrapping through the night, all quiet by myself, and having to cut & snip away, and just taking my own time to create. Taking moments to pause, play around with the several embellishment which i've gotten from the last scrapbooking shopping trips which are still sitting in the shopping bag, unopened and unexplored. Love this alone time sometimes when the week i just had was just a whirlwind , hectic week.

Completed my unfinished LO last night, and here it is scrapping a recent photo of me & jayce, titled "it's been 13 years"...

journalling reads:-
a couple since 1996
being married since 2003
parents since 2007
it's been a great journey with you,
and i'm looking forward to the rest of
my life with you
love you

materials used:-
PP :- K&Company
Diecut border/butterflies/flowers/"happy":- K&Company & my mind eye's
Overlay (clock face):- heidi swapp
metal butterfly: making memories
rub ons: basic grey
stickers: heidi swapp/jenni bowlin
letterings: october afternoon/doodlebug designs/American Crafts
others: lace & metal heart clip(daiso)

Thanks Kim for your patience, it's actually a super duper simple album cause i wanted to capture my thoughts about Kaylen when he was at 21months. He was growing up way too quickly, and his development was ever so changing, that although being at 21months is not a milestone, but something which i wanted to remember about. Easily put together, and only mainly using 7 Gypsies Gaffer Tape for the entire album, but only concentrating on attaching the pages by using the tape at the middle segment of each page to bind them together. It is study when the pages are being fliped.

Kept the embellishment at the most minimal for this "NOW" mini book. Here are in internal pages...

materials used for the "NOW" mini album:-
Cardstock: Kraft (my all time favourite)
PP - Cosmic Criket for all the pages/ journaling on Scenic Route PP
7 Gypsies Gaffer Tape
Stamp: jenni bowlin
number & letters:- dooblebug designs/american craft/ki memories
cards: jenni bowlin
diecut stickers :ki memories /vintage/7 gypsies
journaling tags; jenni bowlin
chipboards : scenic route
clear insets : daiso

Will be trying out sewing tonight after getting my mom to show me how to use the machine (she used to when i was younger sewing dresses for me), so i'm trying to get her to show me some basics & of whatever knowledge she still remembers cause it's been decades.
Have fun with your loved ones, family & friends as the weekend starts...

Bad hair day???

Thought it happens to us adults, but now i've seen it happen to our lil guy on certain days, and this very day when i captured this photo of Kay with his messy hairdo right from waking up in the morning, he just looked so very dazed when he saw his own hair in the mirror, and stared back at himself for so long. I guess he never ever thought that his hair could be in such a state. Cute, i thought...

Completed my pal's birthday gift on time, and i'm glad she liked it. Just a simple Ikea flip frame which i altered slightly, and making it a 3D sort of outlook to the whole thing, but when i uploaded this picture, it looks right on the screen, but when it's in blogspot, it's inverted another way. This is frustrating, and you would have to tilt your head slightly cause it's not in the right way that it's suppose to be. Here is a glimpse of it....love how the ribbons cover most of the metal frame on the top, softening the whole look. Happy Birthday KY, and may you enjoy your very special day tomorrow with your lil princess.

I'm going to see my new toy tonight (aka the sewing machine), and hope to have sometime over the weekends (i''ll be working over the weekends, so i only have the nights and what's left of my energy) to try sewing on my current LO which it's only 20% done of a picture of me & hubby, using latest K&Co products, simply vintage, floral, sweet, let's just say it's my sort of products.

And Kim(aka playfulowl) if you are reading this, i didn't forget your query on my "Now" album for Kaylen, will try to have the pages posted up by next week so that you can see how i attached the pages together.
Have a fantastic weekend ahead!!!

A little bird told me....

that i might be able to save money, and have a used sewing machine that i can try out first before deciding to getting a new one (if i really would need one). One that is not often used at all, one that belongs to my grandma, and it's a Singer brand sewing machine. I'm feeling thrilled, and excited (like a little girl getting her very 1st puppy), but at the same time terrifed at how my very 1st encounter with the sewing machine would be like. You would understand how I feel when:-

  • you know that i've never sewed much in my entire 34 years of life, my experience ever with sewing was merely fallen off buttons, with horrid outcomes of untidy stiches for things as simple as buttons
  • jayce is always the one sewing when we ever needs it done cause he says i'm horrible at it
  • i suck at my Home & Econs classes

Now i've got myself books on sewing just yesterday, and all seems so interesting....and i'm guessing what will be next, but definitely this whole sewing thrill of mine would also be 2nd to scrapbooking. Just a totally different form of excitement i get out of scrapping.

Have a good evening guys!!

Tuesday, March 17

It's just crazy

Like how it would always be when i'm gone away for any business trips, loads of e-mails to answer, loads of planning to do after when we have endless meetings with our suppliers, and everyone in office is awaiting to see me for discussions. It's just endless, and crazy since i went back to work on Monday.

Guess pretty much this week for me will be packed at work, and we have an work event over this weekend as well, and the nights are spent just going slow, working on a scrap gift for a good friend of mine, and pretty much working on my list of scrap to-do list as well (a massive travel album for my cousin whose birthday is next Sunday, loads of photos she took when she went for her school's exchange program in Adelaide last November).

I'm also awaiting to get my very 1st sewing machine, and for a person whose never been much of a sewing person, it's a huge step with fears that i might just sew my fingers onto whatever there is??? Crazy, right!!! Be back with good news soon should i be sucessful finding one that suits my needs. Going to be more of a craft person from there on should I get my hands on a sewing machine. We'll see.

Have a beautiful Wednesday!!

Saturday, March 14

Good to be back

Away from the cold, wet and freezing weather in Germany, and loving it once i stepped onto home ground. No more thick layers of clothing, good riddance to pork knuckles, no more backaches and shoulder aches from all the walking and carrying brochures each day at the fair. Just feeling great that despite the heavy headache i'm getting now as at this hour i would to be still sound asleep, i have Kaylen around me the whole day. Coming from the airport in the early morning, and straight to Kaylen's playgroup, and now i'm just beat.

Spent the most of my plane trips watching inflight movies, and hey i like watching "Twillight".

Alrighty, got to go spend time with Kay now, and fighthing of the sleepy spells.

Will post again soon!!

Sunday, March 8

I'm off

Will be leaving for the airport in another 1 1/2 hrs time, and we're bringing Kay with us to send me off, and having lunch at the airport as well. Don't think Kay would realise that i'm not around for the next one week, maybe he would just be thinking as to why he doesnt see mummy's face that often now.

Alrighty, going to spend some time now with Kay before we leave.

Have a great Sunday, and see you guys soon!

Thursday, March 5

I'll be missing....

Exactly the title i used for my layout which was completed last night (and i figured it would be my last for this week before i fly off), and i even toyed with the idea of bringing some scrap stuff to do during my available time, but come to think of it, each day i would be tired out simply because i would be on my feet the whole day, and with dinner scheduled after the fair for 3 nights in a row, it can get quite tiring. Mind you, dinners are expected to end like 11pm+ usually.

Title "I'll be missing...."
Journalling reads:-
your smile
chatting with you
your lil hugs & kisses
the smell of your hair & skin
our bedtime together
and just you calling "ma ma"

Materials used:-
PP - Cosmic Cricket, October Afternoon
Stickers/ Letterings:- Sassafrass Lass/Jenni Bowlin/7Gypsies/Vintage stickers/October Afternoon
American Craft/Prima
rub ons: October Afternoon/Pink Paislee/Basic Grey

Have a great Thursday guys!!!

Tuesday, March 3

5 more days....

and i'll be in Frankfurt, and where it's only 3 to 4 degrees, and terribly gloomy and wet all day long. I'm not so looking forward to this cause i simply hate cold freezing weathers, and of course missing both my guys. Anyway, i figured out that since i will be kept on my feet the whole entire days when I'm at the fair, and going from booths to booths for scheduled meetings, time will just past so quickly that i'll be home on the flight back within a zap of a time. And i've been gone longer before so what is just 6 days.

Kaylen won't even know that i'm gone....

Will be knocking off work soon in half an hours time, it's back home to the arms of my little one. This is all i need on a cold wet day. Hope despite the wet & rainy days we've been getting, everyone is still having a relatively good week.

xoxo,
Yin

Let's Play Pretend

Yup exactly what we've been doing just this weekend that has passed. Staying at home and playing pretend with Kaylen's latest gadget - the vacuum cleaner. Now he has his very own (we have been hunting high & low for one that looks & sound like the real thing, and we managed to find one), and one that he can lug around, play with it for as long as he wants to. This toy vacuum looked so much like the one we have at home (just that it's his size, it can be turned on making a light sound, and yes it sucks up very minimal dust), and one that has the brand "Bosch" printed on it too. Eversince Friday night, he hasn't really left his vacuum cleaner alone, and everyday since he had it, he had been waking up to telling us "ummmmmm" (which is the sound he makes for the vacuum), and just as long as it's waking up in the morning or from his nap, he would immediately say "ummmmmm". He really loves it!!!

Look at Kaylen posing with his new toy....THE VACUUM
and yes my floor is much cleaner this weekend

Tried to get some scrapping down over the weekend too, cause next week this time, I'll be in Frankfurt for an exhibition, and with me gone for a week, i figured out i would be too tired when i get back to work on anything, and i would rather spend the time over the weekends when i get back with Kay. Oh i keep telling him how much i will be missing him when i leave next Sunday.
The "Now" mini book which i'm working on is only 30%
completed, still has to fit in the journalling & for this album
i actually have those "trading cards" (4 in 1 page) sort of
slots (got a pack of 20 from Daiso)
Will show more when i'm done, and using mostly Cosmic Crickets latest
papers & binded together with 7 Gypsies Gaffer Tape.

Latest layout "You are my Happiness", using
Dream Street Alexis Hardy's papers

And another layout "Smile for me Kaylen"
using Prima's mommy & me paper
It's all very cutesy looking which is not what i usually do
(**sorry for the cut out below cause i have yet to figure out how
the scanner works, and each time it cuts of the bottom part of the page)

It's March already. I'm starting to think of places to bring Kay when i get back so that we can take more photos for March, and thinking about what next project to be working on since i'm going to be done with his "Now" minibook which is all about him at 21 months in Feb, and also March is going to be fun, fun and more fun as both myself & my brother are brewing up some fun business ideas which we would like to do in our spare time, and it's got something to do with scrapping...i love all this excitement!
Have a great Monday and thanks for visiting , and leaving such great comments!
