Today

We had the best time ever despite the heavy downpour in the late afternoon while we are Universal Studios. It's WE today. It's usually us, just me and Kay as we spent our time together, but today it's a WE!! Actually it's been WE since the long weekend, and we are happy just soaking in the festive season with our dear family, and having Jayce with us these past few days. We took a day off from work today to just bring Kay out, and we've decided that we will re-visit Universal Studios again since Transformer has its latest ride there. Thinking that Kay will be thrilled about the ride (since he is into this at this point of time), but knowing that he does not like loud sounds, we are taking the chances that his like for Transformer will overcome this fear. But boy were we wrong....so let's just said that me and Jayce were the ones who enjoyed this ride!!

We just enjoyed the rest of the day, wondering the streets of Universal, and him just doing whatever he wanted....running here and there with his purple foiled balloon, and that's what makes him happy, so be it!! We as the parents just watched on as I try to get some decent photos but just say it's difficult having to keep up with a 4 1/2 and that this 4 1/2 just doesn't like having a camera in his face....and mommy having to threaten or bride just to get a photo......here's some iphone photos first.....

With this year is coming to an end, I've a few things I like to get done....and the 1st would be to get a decent haircut.....it's grown "too long" that it's become unmanageable and I'm getting a little fed up, so here's the latest new do.....so much lighter, so much shorter to my liking......i think I'm going to keep this do for quite some time...

Looking forward to completing more stuff from my to-do list, and wondering if I would be able to squeeze in one last layout before this great year ends!!

I'm still in a festive mood....and i guess it will stay a little longer till this year ends.....one more long weekend to go.....whoooopeee, that means more time for WE!!

So Far in December......

We've decorated, shopped, shopped and shopped somemore in our 1st 2 weeks of this fantastic month......we packed, throw, give away stuff which has unknowingly been kept with us ever since staying at our nest since 2005, and also since we had Kay 4 years ago, things being kept just doubled up. There's still loads more to pack and organize at home and I see us doing this till 24th Dec for sure cause I'm just moving so so slow when it comes to packing the house.....

Love love this month cause December had always been my most favourite month of th year....and this year we've got ourselves a brand new tree after spending a good 10 years with my tree from Australia. Lugged back a Christmas Tree when I completed my studies, and it's spent every good year at my parent's home, to my new nest when I got married, and Kay had 3 good years with my Aussie tree and we decided we needed a brand new one since it's already looking thinner each year. Words aside, here's some photos of the tree setting scene....big thanks to my dear hubby who religiously every year unpacks the tree, the ornament boxes, sets it up (this year was harder cause it's a new tree with tricker bits to this super tall tree), puts up the lights, and awaits for me to do the decoration. Kay's been really helpful as always.....

December's also school holidays for him....loads of home time cause this year I didn't get the time to plan any holiday programmes for him....so each weekend I'm bringing him to places to eat, walk and shop for Christmas pressies for the family. We've even toured around with the open top buses and Duck Tours around Singapore, Night Safari (His very 2nd time) during this last 2 weeks of December. I really wish for more time with him cause he's growing up so quickly each month, and I don't wish to miss out anything about him. He tends to ask more of everything now, and i seem to have to search for answers myself to.

We've also started on the Christmas shopping list for the family and friends, and colleagues....and i can't believe it that it seems even harder now to shop cause i can never finish that list of things to buy. It's not so simple when it comes to picking up gifts for everyone in my life, and with Kay around, we both are just few notches slower in completing cause he's just running everywhere at the stores. I've only completed scrapping and wrapping all my colleagues gift, and then moving on to wrapping our family's gift.....and you know what both me and Jayce has yet to even get down to buying Kay's Christmas gift this year. What do you get for a boy who has almost everything?? The best for me is to spend as much time as possible as this would be the perfect gift for him. I've gotten tickets for us to re-visit Universal Studios again right after Christmas. He enjoyed the last time he was there in May for his birthday, so I figured out even if it's not his 1st time, just as long as we are with him, he's going to love it.

I've also started on Kay's Christmas Mini.....it's more of what he's been doing in the whole of December on top of the new Christmas tree we've gotten.....so it will record our outings, our sights, just us spending precious time with him this December. Here's some peeks at it.....

*Using some of my inexpensive Ikea Christmas Tree Decorations which makes absolutely great mask for the background of my mini which this round, my mini is made of cardboard from boxes which I've plenty of at work.....

& here's the cover page......a good mix of embellishment from October Afternoon, Crate Paper, Simple Stories Christmas series.....

Till the next post, I'm going to enjoy our days leading to Christmas and yet determined to have my home as neat as possible before Christmas Eve........my scrap desk included as well.....

As we say goodbye to a great school year.....

School's ended for Kay last Friday.....can't believe that his nursery days passes by so quickly. I've been telling him since 2 days back that school's ending, that he will be going to a brand new class environment next year, new teachers but at least most of his friends will still be with him....so nothing for him to worry about. It's more mummy getting the jitters of whether if he will take to his new teachers. So far I've seen at the other classes, the teachers change so frequently that the lil ones get affected. I'm thankful that Kay had his teacher ever since he joined and she's fantastic, and he enjoys her classes, and going to school each morning is something he looks forward to.

Here are some photo's of him on his last day at school as he visits his new class environment, and a new teacher as well as he enter's into Kindy next year...

To say a Big Thank You to his favourite teacher - Mrs Branson, I scrapped her a washi tape note book which i bought a stack of Kraft covered notebooks from MUJI, and got to say how easy it is to just create the background with all sorts of washi tapes, and Kay added his personal touch for his teacher by drawing in the inner cover.....rainbows and little seedlings. I love how Pooi uses washi tapes for her notebook projects, and she always never fail to inspire me.

Here's a sneak at the cover......

& Kay's drawing...

I've got to start to plan what to do with Kay over the school holidays.......it's already one week into his holidays, and so far I've yet to think of places & activities for him to do....any ideas??

Have a beautiful Thursday!!

To be grateful for......

so many things in my life. Life gets to me sometimes, and as much as I would love to live it much more simpler cause it doesn't have to be complicating, I've people telling me that you cannot live a simple life. I'm the sort of person who will just take it in, think about it over and over again, and yet not say a single word. It got me thinking for a long time, what simple is to everyone, and what it means to me and my family. We will strive to work to make money so that we can all have better lives. I'm thankful and grateful for my entire life, to my love ones especially, and my dear friends.

To have that amount of love I have for my dear lil one.....to be able to have him laugh, smile, cry, whine all in my face....to experience what's it like being a parent, walking down this journey not knowing if what I want best for him is really the best.

*Getting 2 days in a week with him, doing anything, and going places together.....

*that gorgeous smile that never fails to melt my heart everything......

*his angry and moody days that he experiences once something is not going his way......i've realised how when he came into my life, I've became a better person. One who can be so patient during such mood swings, taking the time to understand why he is feeling this way rather then to have to shout my head off right away at him for behaving like such a brat

*his love, his hugs and kisses, his daily conversations, being his playmate, his bedtime buddy, and I can't imagine what my life would be like not having him.

*this hobby of mine that it helps me to document, and remember all my very special memories of Kay since his birth, and for me to always look back together with him, and for him to have a piece of me in the future. Whether be it layouts or mini albums, or frames, and whether I'm doing it for my family or friends, it brings me great joy and i see myself doing this for a long long time. Here's what I've been having the pleasure to work on lately.....

*an altered 7Gypise's solo tray for myself......and the use of my favourite papers from October Afternoon "Side Walk"....

& starting to work early for my Christmas pressie's for my colleagues at work......altered mongrams.....love these crisps white alpha's from Cotton On Kids.....

So what are you grateful for in your life??

Have a beautiful day!!

What an October it is!!

October came and went as quickly as I expected it to be, and I keep reminding myself to document as much as I can of my lil guy's growing up journey.....So here is October for him, and his very 1st Halloween....this year he's dressed up as a wizard, and a good one i must add. In Singapore we never celebrate much of this western tradition and the most we would see would be at my parent's estate where you have some foreigners staying there, that you are greeted with pretty much the usual Halloween decors at the front of their home, and this round we manage to see groups of lil ones all dressed up, and making their way with lil pumpkin treat baskets or bags, and attending such party celebration , and not forgetting their mummies and daddies too....

Kayl comes to love this festival cause he loves pumpkins....so this year we decided to add some of the Halloween stuff into our home.....our gate's stuck with orange and white cobwebs, and tons of creepy spiders that he added on, Halloween banners at the front area of our home, a family of daddy, mommy and Kaylen Jack O' lanterns (unfortunately I was too afraid to crave any of them cause it might look even more gruesome if i get my hands on them, but instead he bought some weeks back a pack of Martha Stewart pumpkin transfers while I was scrapbook shopping.....). Just too bad there wasn't anyone to trick a treat with, but he's already too excited about the spooky gate we have that got the attention of a few of my neighbours.

So here's some pictures I've taken of him and his very 1st Halloween.....

And back to something less creepy, my LO which finally I've completed but haven't got time earlier to post about, using latest October Afternoon's Side Walk. Love this range so much that I'm guilty of hoarding the papers and the chipboards that I'm planning to use them for this year's scrap pressie for my office colleagues....slowly but surely I'm starting my Christmas gift project soon.

Title: A Day in the Sunshine

It's the 1st day of November today.....is this going to be yet another fast month??

Have a great start of November you all!!

Friday, October 21

Great to just be back blogging......

You just have no idea how much i miss this space of mine, miss catching up with my favourite blogs, scrapbooking, capturing moments of the ever growing Kay, and can't believe that September's gone just like this, and so is October in another weeks time.

So much had happened for us in September, and a month that I will always remember. Our dear 17 year old furry friend - Bubbles passed away 3 days after my birthday due a bad fall he had, and it was so painful to just make that decision to just let him go.....i miss him.....and will remember the good ol' days....I've a photo of him taken by my sis in law in the earlier days waiting for me to scrap, and in my phone i had the very last photo i took of him at the vet and that i would not show cause it will only break our hearts even more....To Kay, he doesn't understand that much of what death is.....and he simply thinks that Bubbles would be okay after taking medication (just like how he takes his every time he is sick), so I tell him Bubbles gone to the stars, and now whenever i asked him where Bubbles would be, he says in the stars, and even calls it "Bubbles Star" and says "it's okay mummy, I go get a chihuahua.......

September is also a super busy month for me given the amount of travels i had to do for work to Italy and in the midst of spending some time with Kaylen during his one week school break at Marina Bay Sands over a weekend, quality time at dinner with my family at Melts, Mid's Autumn Festival with a trip down to Chinese Garden for the very 1st time with his Uncle Yixi & Aunt Jianxi.

Then came October....this is him...going to be 4 1/2 years soon in November...can't believe that 6 months would just go past so quickly and seriously I'm not taking as much photos as I would like of him each month, and he is really growing way way too fast for me.....

Looking cool with his Aunt's sunglasses......

This is what he's been up to lately and so much more of this in October......

& this is what I completed too.....my 1st mini album for my instax photos.....and proud to say that Kay's taken some nice shots of me and Jayce.....love the woodgrain paper i used for this mini, although not acid or lignin free for scrapping purposes, still love this paper texture besides I want all these to last my lifetime to pass it on to Kay so i always like to mix the stuff i use when i scrap. Here's the pages....mainly used Crate Paper's latest Random & Farmhouse series and did i ever mention....i'm starting to love chipboard pieces. Realise I've been buying more chipboard embellishments as compared to before.

Hope to catch up with some scrapping this weekend with layouts, miss working on layouts for the longest time, and can't wait to play with October Afternoon's latest - Sidewalk which i hoarded on some of their papers this time round....ooppps did i say "hoard"....bad habit.

Till the next time, have a beautiful weekend ahead.

My Little IPhone Surprises.....

Checked my phone photos today while upkeeping my photos taken, these were what I found....someone's been taking photos of himself at the back seat of the car. It must be on his way to school last week that he had taken his own photos....and not bad for a start. Yesterday, I found another 30 over self photos on my dad's IPhone too....so many that grandpa asked for me to help delete some away...sneaky lil fellow going around leaving his photos in other people's phone.

See that smile.....it's so Kaylen....lol

He always surprises me in so many ways. From the stuff he says, to what's going on in his mind just amazes me that at 4 years of age, he is already so much a lil adult. I'm the one who's having to fight with time cause I'm not ready yet to see him grow up so quickly. Yes there are still baby Kaylen times now, but slowly these are giving way to "mummy i can do it myself" or "mummy look at me, I'm big boy now"....awww those words were non existence since 1 year ago. I fuss alot about him, and just because of how much I love this boy that I worry more then I'm supposed to.

I do my best to spend whatever available time i have after work even if it's car ride times from places, or just before bedtime, or in the shower when he bathes to just talk to him. Work week usually leaves me with about 2 hours of time when we get home till his 9ish bedtime to just catch up on his day....usually he is more keen as to "who is playing with me"...while I'll be like "how's your day Kaylen" and weekends are usually just the both of us, and i totally wished weekends are longer (best that they don't end). So with whatever energy that I'm left with, I would always try to squeeze some scrapping time to just document some of his photos be it in layouts or minis. So those self photos above, I'm sure they will be documented for the very reason that he loves so much to take photos of himself just as long as he has the camera (he's already going after my Instax and we manage to take a bunch of us just freshly yesterday. Time would have pass me by, but surely I will make the time to remember these precious moments of him, of us 3 in a very special way.

It's school break now....and we'll be spending 2 nights at the Marina Bay Sands this coming Friday as part of his school holidays staycation and dinner at Melt at Oriental Hotel with our family.....so I'm charging the battery to my DSLR, bringing my Instax as well to capture all that memories we are making.

Have a beautiful Wednesday!!

For his teachers......

This would be my 2nd year making scrappy gifts for Kaylen for his Teacher's Day, and on top of this, his help comes only in the form of drawing cards for his teachers (at least he drew something this year). Last year for his form teacher, I made alpha monograms in white frames, and this year I still went back to the good ol IKea frames, and this time I manage to get a photo of Kay and his favourite teacher - Mrs Branson during his birthday party at school in May. She's been teaching Kay since his pre-nursery school days, and this is her 2nd year with Kaylen, and I'm hoping that she will be his form teacher all the way to Kindergarten. She's super with him, and he totally enjoys her classes, and even on weekends, he would ask if he would be going for Mrs Branson classes lol....

So here's this year's Teacher's Day gift for both his Form teacher, and his chinese teacher as well (didn't manage to have Kay take photo with her) which i scrapped a monogram on a frame for her....

For Mrs Branson......

& for Wu lao shi.......

A very Happy Teacher's Day to all teachers....and a Big thank you...

It's going to be sometime before i will be back blogging and scrapping.

See you all soon.....

To my very special friend.....G

Nothing makes me happier than knowing someone close to me is finally getting married.....& her wish when I knew her 2 years ago was to get married by 30 years old....now 2 years into this....although past 30 slighty.....she is getting married & totally madly in love with her other half!!!

To celebrate this beautiful union....i scrapped my brains out cause i don't have alot of time to work on it with Kay being sick on & off, me getting so bogged down with work and that it drains out all my energy and creative juices and just this past weekend, had a bad throat, sniffles....but still i managed to finish it just yesterday afternoon.

Won't reveal yet the whole album till after her wedding, and me returning from my overseas trip (boo hoo that's another story for September). So G, hope you and Mark will love this album filled with so much love for the both of you. Done with my most favourite colours - turquoise, my favourite elements - dollies (die cut ones, Maya Rd latest kraft dollies, dollies from Pink Paislee's previous ink resist papers....and butterflies, Prima blooms and blings to doll up this massive thick album when I was finished with it).

Title: Always

(since I saw her used acrylic pages for her wedding guest book, though i would just use acrylic album as well)

The Cover

Sneak of some pages.....what a darling couple.....

You deserve all the happiness G, and although i can't be there on your very special day, please know that i'm somewhere far wishing you and Mark all the best in your upcoming marriage.....Hugs!!

What's up.....

When will I ever say I'm not busy with this or that.....and it's not possible for me to feel the least tired at the end of each day. I'm feeling more drained then ever for the last few months, and hardly have the time to think what I would like to work on for my scrappy side of life. My very precious time after work, and my every weekends, I would dedicate it to spending it with my dear lil one. I can never get enough of him, and i really miss taking more photos of him with each month passing, and so far my Iphone has been doing that job cause just can't seem to find that energy to take out the DSLR to start snapping......

My scrap desk is highly neglected, messy and most likely collecting dust as well, so hoping this weekend I'll get some time to just sort, and complete and start some projects I have on hand.....

This was scrapped at the beginning of this month, a very simple LO.....

Title: Grow

Kaylen looks so grown up in this photo, sometimes when i just look at him,

i just can't believe it that 4 years has just gone by so quickly. Conversations are never like

before, so much more interesting and funny. I love this age of 4.

And having the chance last weekend to start off Kaylen's Teacher's day pressie.....really got to have it completed within this weekend to move on to my next highly exciting project......

I'm looking forward to the public holidays that are coming up, this can only mean more time with my boys.......what more can i ask for?

I'm hoping that i will be able to have more scrapping time to just sit and scrap to my hearts desire.....soon i hope...

Friday, August 5

Just when I thought.....

he is on his way to recovery, the horrid fever is back last night. It's my worst nightmare to see him having to go through it again, just when he is starting to feel better (coughing is already at its most minimal, and medication has also gradually come to a stop). It pains me to see him like this, but comforted to see his smile break through each time. My little warrior fighthing through this, and we're praying that this round, it's not going to get nasty like the previous episode which was only 3 weeks ago, and that he recovers in time for his school's National Day celebration which we know he is so looking forward to. He sings to National Day's song ever since he returned back to school, and from talking to his teacher this morning while collecting his homework, he was very into the singing the songs in class, and even swaying to the beat. So please get well in time my lil one......

It seems that I have more "sickie" photos of him in my iphone more than happier ones......and these past few months I really don't have the energy to take out the DSLR to record his moments....So iphone photos are the quickest....

Here's Kay last night with the cooling pad again...........

Photos of this morning.....no school, slight fever of 37.7 degree......and still in a mood of funny faces.......

& the need to look cool while having his milk......he says he needs his sunnies cause the morning sun is hurting his eyes.....wahahaha....

It's surely going to be a stay home weekend for both of us....lots of bonding time, resting as much as he can.....preparing some stay home creative fun....

Till then, have yourself a great weekend ahead!!

Friday, July 29

All in a week.......

Can't believe that this week just passes me by......it's more of a recovering week for us since Kay was very sick for whole of last week. This time him falling ill took a much longer time for him to recover. His usual energy level is still not returned, he is tired easily, slightly quieter at times.............

He's been away from school now for 2 weeks, and he spent most of his time indoors and at grams place, playing with his usual toys, scaring Poncho, my brother's bull dog with whatever things he can get his hands on (i think Poncho must have hated the fact that Kay's home all the time now rather then his usual half days when he's at school). So when we get home, I try to come up with arty stuff to do since he has already played enough the whole entire day.

Paper plates were the main art material.......we started with making lions after I saw a blog post by one of my favourite - Stephanie Howell, but ended having our lions looked like anything but lions.....wahahaha.....main thing here, we just had messy fun painting, pasting, snipping, cutting......see that enthusiam!!!

Then few nights back before bedtime, Kay & Jayce made fishes out of the paper plates........so maybe this weekend, I'll experiment on paper plate BUNNIES!!! (that calls for me to go get more rolley eyes, pom poms....other materials i can use as whiskers.....)

This week also sees Kay getting a needed haircut......this time it's so much shorter cause with this super hot weather, he will feel better with a much shorter cut.....& it pains to see him visibly thinner.....oh heck, just as long as he is well....this is what matters most.

And finally finishing the LO i started out early this week......love love the dark chocolate cardstock with Studio Calico's mist - Mister Huey's calico white, and it so happens the acrylic paint i used on the cardboard to matt the photo was left over from Kay's session of painting his paper plate lion's face.

I'm always looking forward to my weekends with Kay, it's back to the usual of just the 2 of us.....the way i love it......

Enjoy your weekends doing stuff with people you love!
