Would love....

To have parts of our home looking like this (gotten these lovely pictures from Decorlogy http://www.flickr.com/photos/decorology/.... and we're thinking of having our living room sofa upholstery cause our total white sofa after 4 years does not look that "white" anymore, and with a lil guy around, it's hard to stay that shade. I love all things white at home, and i've been warned of the after effects once lil kids arrive into your life. Jayce always call our home - "yin wen's home", and like my pals would say, it's a total "yin wen" sort of house. Everything in it is me.

And i'm thinking of having my sofa changed from a total white to one with english vintage floral designs (not your old fasion english classic designs, but those with a touch of modern to it). When i travel to Europe for my business trips, i love to hit their home decoration stores, and when we did our home, i would be buying stuff like glasses, kitchen stuff(from strainer baskets to cheese boards & butter knife, tea towels, candle stands etc), and back home here, i would also be doing the same, and now i've a huge tall sliding cupboard filled with all these wares.

I hope to have some time to actually go about decorating more in our home like putting up picture frames, and now with an addition to our family, it's about time. I'm just inspired by these lovely homes...

Pretty, ain't it?

Just go with the flow

My mom was pleased this morning to have received among my other scrap gifts for her cause this time round, Kaylen handed it over to her personally, and before we got down from the car this morning to grandma's place, he made sure that i didn't forget to pass him the gift. He pointed at the altered chipboard (took it out of the pages of a Maya Rd album), and kept saying "ah ma, ah ma", and he carried the gift very well in his hands, and when he saw grandma, he quickly went up to her, calling her non stop, and even pointed to show her that her picture was on the chipboard. I just can't believe all these cause he has never done something like this before. I knew that he is starting to understand the things around him, the things we say to him. I'm just so proud of him, looking at my lil guy, all grown up.

Had fun creating this mother's day gift for her cause she says no more large frames please cause she doesn't have much space to have them displayed. So this year, it's a hanging altered chipboard in a nice compact size, and just this morning she was asking where should she hang this. Materials used mainly from K&Co (paper, chipboard letters, diecut flowers, diecut word),Webster's letterings, stickers from 7Gypsies, pin from making memories.

New series from October Afternoon just came into stocks at Made with Love, and being a big fan of OA, i guilty of hoarding some of their lovely, sweet paper, and had my hands on the packs of wild cards as well. I'm just 1 very happy gal at this moment, and looking forward to the weekend where i would live to get my hands working with these new arrivals.

Have a beautiful weekend ahead. I know i will cause it's loads of foodie in line, 1 teppanyaki dinner on sat, 1 mother's day dim sum breakfast on sunday morning, and eating again dinner at my dad's grill party. How's your weekend line up?

Thanks Mom & Grandma

To my mom, thank you for taking the energy to help me care for Kaylen and giving me that peace of mind when i work, knowing that Kay's always in good hands. You were there for Kaylen from day 1 when he was born, and helping me & showing me how to care for him when he was so little. You actually retired from work just to care for him, and these 2 years is definitely tiring, and you lost weight as a result. Nevertheless, Kaylen's the closet to you, and although he doesn't say it yet, i know he loves you lots and "ah ma" are his first words. Thanks Mom.

To my grandma, this fine lady whose watched & cared for me when i was little as mom had to be working, and you took really good care of the 3 of us. Now as we all grown up, you still made sure that we have homecooked meals for dinner every night, and although as age is catching up with you, you still have the energy to be going for window shopping at times, and gardening away. At dinner every night, you would always ask if i have my cup of chinese tea, you would always give me yours without fail. Thanks grams for the love, and i know just how precious Kaylen is to you, and everytime when you see him, you would always give him loads of kisses & hugs. I'm just truly glad that you are around with me, and have this chance to see Kaylen, and i'm wishing for you this mother's day a long & healthy life ahead with all of us.

Happy Mother's Day in advance, and i'm looking forward to our Dim Sum breakfast this Sunday!

Is it that difficult...

Pooi, if you are reading this, it's super hard to be dirty with my layouts. The cloest i got to the Maya mist was having it held in my hand (shook it already), but i just can't bring myself to getting the spray on the paper. Not because that the nozzle was jam (it was fine), just i can't bring myself to press on the nozzle. This is hard, you are a natural gal at using the mist & paints on your LO.

I've been always creating super clean layouts, no paints or spray mist or much inks, and i always envyed fellow scrappers who ventured into other mediums when they scrap, and there i am stuck. Like how Kaylen would say it now (he is starting to have a little more words for the past 2 weeks) - "oh no, it's stuck". Got to overcome this "i like my layout clean" mentality. How do you do it?

So here you have it, over the long weekend, my 2 super clean LO's, and lately i have a thing for white cardstock...

What is it like having a boy?

This question was constantly on my mind when i knew i was expecting a boy, and from the start before we even knew the gender of our baby, Jayce was very sure that we are going to have a boy. I was just excited that we were going to have a baby, and even though i always wanted a little girl, i was just mentally preparing myself should i have a boy instead. So when the news came that it's going to be lil guy, i was okay with it, but kept having questions popping up in my mind.

Stuff like how on earth am i going to comb a boy's hairstyle?? or what sort of games do little boy's play with (definitely no teddy bear's picnic or tea parties with the dollys), no dress up, no matching bags or shoes (i realise guys don't really bother), completely lost in thoughts as to how to deal with little boys.

When Kaylen was born, my first stay overnight in the hospital i clearly remembered when i gain consciousness was already 12 midnight, and holding him for the 2nd time was just such a moment for me. So small, so quiet he was laying in my arms, and the smell and touch of his hair. I couldn't believe it that he was my very own, someone special whom i've waited for 9 months was just there in my arms. Despite the uncomfort i was in trying to nurse him for the very 1st time & the fact that the anaesthetic was wearing of, all these were secondary when i had Kaylen in my arms. All doesn't matter, it was just all him.

Now if anyone were to ask me again on what gender would i wish for No.2, my answer would be - " as long as the baby is healthy, even if it's a boy again, i'm totally alright with it". Jayce knows how much i've changed my mindset of wanting a baby girl so much before we had Kaylen, and he knows very well that i'm totally in love with our lil guy, and doing all guy stuff is fine with me.

I just cannot believe that my 1st born, my most adored lil guy will be turning 2 very soon.

this is Kaylen in May...all grown up

Like how i tell him always - i love you precious!!
xoxo, mummy

A naughty corner in place...

We are in the right mind to have it implemented right as we speak, and the whole of this morning was truly frustrating having to deal with a lil dude whose refusing to do what he was told to. I got so mad, picked up Kay's picture cards & "threw" them into the dust bin (i actually hid it somewhere in the kitchen), went onto putting Kay on a chair, and told him to sit still & don't think about moving. As still as he sat on the chair, bawling his eyes out with mucus drooping down from his nose, i was try to talk sense into why he was punished. At this age of becoming 2, i know Kay's not exactly understanding what i say, and only knowing that i threw away his cards in the bin, and that's it. He knows I'm angry at him, and like always no matter how angry i can get, Kay knows i give in at times seeing the state he was in.

Both my & jayce proceeded onto the pretending to leave the house (with Kay still sitting on the chair), and closing the door behind us cause we told him since he is naughty, we're going to leave without him this morning. Once the door close behind us, we heard him cry and he was silent for awhile, and we thought he most likely came down from the chair. We then opened the door again to see, and there he was sitting quietly with his teary eyes still on the chair we left him on. I carried him up, and throughout he was very very silent. In the car ride, he was quiet too. There i was thinking if Kay knew that he was being punished because he isnt being good, and would he be sorry?? As it would take some time before he starts to talk, i would always be wondering what on earth he was thinking about, or how he is feeling at times such as these. Definitely not feeling too good cause he knows if he was unhappy, he would cry, and laugh when he feels happy. Simple as this cause for an almost 2 year old, it doesn't get any more complicated than that.

It's more of a mummy & daddy thingy as we were asking ourselves on whether should we start a naughty corner for Kay when he gets out of hand, and we think it's needed to have control over his bad behaviour at times although experts say that it is recommended to start when they are 3 years old cause it's where they are most likely understand. Gosh it does take all the energy out of me being angry at him, and like all mothers out there, how long can you stay angry with your lil ones. Never too long i believe.

Part & parcel of my mummyhood....totally filled with all sorts of emotions making it all the more exciting and challenging as I enter very soon in the life of a 2 year old. Goodbye to baby days....

Are you having a good Monday so far?

This is Mummyhood

**a photo intensive post**

I find myself sometimes asking how i manage to survive through being a mummy. Did i do a good job at it? Only Kay would be able to tell me if i've done an okay job out of it. Wonder if i would to ask him, what would the answer be? For all i know till he starts talking to me, i'm doing my best in every way, and i believe that's what my mom did when she had us. I manage to survive the initial months of pure tiredness, nursing for ever 2 to 3 hours, changing as much diapers as it is required. All these are gone (okay i'm still tired at times but not because i don't get enough sleep) and given way to new challenges in mummyhood as i face now - an almost 2 year old. So today i've decided to just observe what Kaylen does on his own time at different times of the day & you'll know the amount of energy i need for just 1 day of looking after him.

After his morning's milk, he decided to have fun with my scrap flowers...
more it seems to be the basket that he was after...

On to transfering the flowers from one basket to another...
& several more times of this, and he can be going at it
for the next 10 to 15 mins...

He poured out the crayons & colour pencils, and disappears
for a while...(Sparky his lion was initially accompany kaylen
for his car rides everyday till last night, Kay wanted him at home
with him....haizz)

Guess where he went? He went to grab the basket which i already
stored the flowers away this morning. He wanted to have his coloured
pencils in this basket. You can just imagine that if the basket
was here looking empty, where are my bunch of flowers??

Basket is still there, and he is still colouring & dotting away...

Tired of colouring already, and on to pouring the coloured pencils
from one container to another...

Disappeared again, and look at the mess...& before he went away
he added the roller & picture cards to the coffee table...

Couldn't stand looking at the mess he made with the scrap flowers,
so i was just sitting on the floor sorting the flowers out
& out he came & made another mini mess next to me..
Grab other scrap bellies from the trolley
& throws it on the floor, and disappears..
Arghhhh

Found him in his room, sitting at the tightest possible spot
& reading "Millie the cat"...

Decided to come out of his room pushing his Ikea cart... & giving
Sparky a ride along with it

Went back into his room again, and this time to lay down..
(he was shuttering between the living room
& his bedroom, and it can be tiring)

He is one who cannot lay still...see the large pillow was initially
with him on the mattress, and now he is with it on the floor
in seconds..

There you have it (before i was able to sit down & blog, i was picking & packing the house again before in the next 3 hours time, it might very be in the same state or worst when the lil monster awakes). This is a typical day for me & Kaylen when we're home, and it's going to be more or less the same when he wakes up from his nap time later. And when daddy gets home in the eveing, another round of games or make believe. To keep up with him, i certainly need loads of energy, and brain power to keep him entertained, or invent little games, and when i need to rest for a while, Barney CD of songs would come in handy, or when i need to keep him out of the kitchen when i prepare his meals, it would be KungFu Panda.

Sometimes at the end of the whole day, after a good long relaxing bath, i would wind down by havng a quiet time scrapping away. Scrapping has became a big part of my life now, and i truly found a hobby which i'm passionate about, and one which allows me to use my creative juices.

Since it's going to be a long weekend, i've scrapped and hopefully would have 2 layouts at least when the weekend's over, and my 1st layout sits now awaiting for me to put on its finishing touches. Here's a peek at it's title....

May's a great month. Mother's day is round the corner and as i start on scrapping a gift for my mom cause she's been a great help for the past 2 years, and doing a really good job at looking after Kaylen for me as i work everyday, and i can't ask for anything more knowing everyday Kaylen is in good hands. I'm also working on a LO on motherhood, and how it has been for the last 2 years for me. Not only this for the month of May, but also creating some layouts of Kaylen when he is much younger as to me it's been a great journey watching him grow up, watching him go through his 1st years of being a baby, stages now of him developing & changing as he grows, and to me an amazing time to be at. 2 years ago in May this time, i'm only exactly 1 month away from my due date (Kay was suppose to arrive on June 2nd), and the emotions and feelings of being so close to welcoming my lil guy was of ups & downs. Of me having to prepare myself mentally for the birth which i was afraid of how it would go, and yet anticipating his birth, wondering how Kay would look...I love thinking back, and i know each year as i go into the month of May, not only is the birth month of Kaylen, but a very special month cause i became a mom for the very 1st time, and totally blessed with a little guy whose so special in his own little way.

Have a beautiful Saturday!!!
